King Charles III Coronation Medal | Heather Dubbeldam

We are extremely proud to announce that Principal Heather Dubbeldam has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, a one-time award that commemorates the coronation of King Charles III by recognizing Canadians who have made a meaningful impact in their communities. Heather is among 30 Canadian architects named by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada for their outstanding contributions within the architectural community and beyond. The King Charles III Coronation Medal was administered by the Chancellery of Honours, as part of the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General.

Beyond her dedication to improving the public realm through innovative design, research, and a focus on environmental and social sustainability in her practice’s built projects, Heather’s belief in the power of architecture and advocacy as drivers of change has led her to invest significant energy in the stewardship of the built environment over the past two decades. She has been leading or contributing to organizations that advocate for excellence in the built environment, including as the co-founder of Park(ing) Day Toronto , Advisory member and past Chair of the Toronto Society of Architects, and past Vice-Chair of the Design Industry Advisory Council. She is also a leader in the architecture profession, supporting the next generation of architects as the Director of Twenty+Change, and advocating for diversity and inclusion as the Chair of the Advisory Committee of Building Equality in Architecture Toronto (BEAT). Her design research on incremental density and livability in multi-family housing was featured at the 2023 Venice Biennale as part of the Reconceptualizing Urban Housing Exhibition. She is regularly invited to speak as a thought leader and has presented nationally and internationally at universities, industry events and conferences.

Congratulations to the other recipients of this prestigious honour! See the RAIC announcement for more details.
