'House of Contrasts', Will Jones, Spring 2011

Will Jones writes about Contrast House, an infill project in the Annex, honing on the project’s main themes: the play between light and dark surfaces, and the open interior that allows for ample daylighting through every angle. He explains: “The major changes were moving the space-hogging staircase to one side, adding windows wherever possible, and strategically contrasting white surfaces with dark ones.” In regards to increasing opportunities for sunlight and storage throughout the home, Dubbeldam notes “Light and space almost always top the wish lists on projects like these. If you can solve the light issues, then the home feels bigger already.”
