The new Cosentino Toronto City, created in collaboration with Cosentino’s design team in Spain, is a 4,200-square-foot space located at the corner of Front and Frederick Streets. Conceived as a creative hub rather than a traditional showroom, it serves as a meeting point for architects, designers, and the public, offering both practical resources and immersive experiences.
The design transforms Cosentino’s signature surfaces into the architecture itself, creating a seamless and sculptural environment. Floors, walls, cladding, and millwork are composed of Cosentino materials, allowing visitors to engage directly with each surface in real-world applications and gain a clear understanding of its material qualities, performance, and design potential. Each zone showcases a distinct material palette, demonstrating the versatility of Cosentino’s collections. Fluted surfaces and screened elements introduce a refined play of light and shadow, heightened by high ceilings and abundant natural light, while sculptural light fixtures—featuring work by Spanish designers—animate the interior. This material continuity and precise detailing embody Cosentino’s values of high design and craftsmanship, creating tactile, spatial moments that draw on the brand’s Mediterranean heritage while responding to the local context.
Programmatically, the showroom is organized into a series of zones that support interaction, material exploration, and professional use. A working kitchen and fully outfitted washrooms demonstrate surfaces in everyday applications, while the Bathelier showcases possibilities for bath and spa design. The Atelier serves as a dedicated materials library, with pull-out frames for viewing surfaces side-by-side and testing them for colour, texture, and finish. Large rotating metal frames display slabs toward both the interior and the street, creating a visual connection between the showroom and the city. Flexible meeting and event areas accommodate presentations, workshops, and informal gatherings, positioning the space as an active node within Toronto’s design community.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Cosentino’s identity and was integral to the showroom’s material strategy. Throughout the space, surfaces made with recycled content, renewable energy, and advanced production technologies that reduce waste and minimize water use are applied in a broad range of architectural conditions. Their use not only highlights the environmental performance of Cosentino’s products but also demonstrates that sustainability and high design can coexist without compromise to beauty, durability, or longevity.
As part of Cosentino’s global City network, the Toronto showroom expands the brand’s presence in North America and reinforces its role as a connector of community, innovation, and design culture. With its elevated level of detailing and craftsmanship, the showroom reflects Cosentino’s global vision and dedication to excellence, offering an environment that inspires, educates, and connects. This approach reflects a broader shift in the design of luxury showrooms—one that emphasizes immersive, full-scale environments over traditional display. As principal Heather Dubbeldam notes, “There’s been a clear shift in how luxury showrooms are conceived – they’ve evolved into immersive, experiential spaces that tell a story about how we live with design. Cosentino’s new Toronto showroom embodies this approach, presenting its surfacing materials in full-scale environments that blur the line between display and architecture. It’s not just about what luxury looks like, but how it feels.”
