Dubbeldam x Teknion: Advanced Concepts 2.0 launch in New York City

Our designs for Teknion’s Advanced Concepts were unveiled in New York City in October 2025, marking the first public presentation of a series exploring the future of the workplace.

The concepts reimagine how work environments can adapt to shifting patterns of use, supporting flexibility, wellbeing, and evolving modes of collaboration. Developed through a research-driven process, the designs explore new relationships between architecture, furniture, and technology – moving beyond static workplaces toward more responsive, user-centered environments.

The collection includes three concepts – PetPod, RoamStation, and Nimbus – each operating at a different scale, from personal workspace to architectural system. Together, they explore a workplace that is no longer fixed, but fluid, shaped by users and responsive to change. PetPod offers a compact, under-desk enclosure for pet-friendly workplaces, integrating storage, acoustic lining, and air filtration. RoamStation is a modular, mobile workstation that supports seamless transitions between focus and collaboration, with sit-stand functionality and autonomous docking. Nimbus is an adaptable architectural system of suspended, fabric-like elements that enhance light, acoustics, and spatial experience.

The New York launch introduced the concepts to an international audience of designers, industry leaders, and clients, positioning the work within a broader conversation about the future of work. Following its debut in New York, the exhibition will travel to Toronto, bringing these ideas back to our home city and extending the conversation around flexibility, wellbeing, and the evolving workplace.
