Christie Co/Habitat Featured in Housing on the Line Exhibition
Dubbeldam Architecture + Design is featured in Housing on the Line, an architectural exhibition exploring the potential of building above Toronto’s Bloor subway corridor.
Our proposal, Christie Co/Habitat, reimagines the space above Christie Station as a residential community connected to Christie Pits Park, exploring how transit infrastructure can support housing while strengthening relationships between people, landscape, and urban biodiversity.
Through the exhibition, Christie Co/Habitat contributes to a broader conversation about how Toronto can accommodate growth by making better use of existing infrastructure and creating new relationships between housing, transit, and the natural environment. “Buildings and infrastructure are part of larger social, cultural, and ecological systems. As our cities grow and densify, we have an opportunity to take a more holistic approach to city building, one that strengthens the relationship between people, place, and the natural world,” says Heather Dubbeldam, Principal of Dubbeldam Architecture + Design.
Housing on the Line was conceived and initiated by Superkül, bringing together speculative proposals from seven Toronto architecture firms.
