Announcing Park(ing) Day Toronto!

We’re excited to coordinate the Toronto version of Park(ing) Day this year from September 16th to 18th! Park(ing) Day is a global, public, participatory art project that occurs annually on the third weekend of September. Originating in San Francisco in 2055, it has grown into a worldwide movement where communities come together to temporarily repurpose on-street, boulevard, or lot parking spaces into vibrant mini-parks, creative installations, and spaces for social interaction and activism.

In Toronto, Park(ing) Day provides an opportunity for residents, artists, and organizations to reimagine urban spaces. By transforming parking spots into pop-up parks, gardens, art installations, or recreational spaces, participants contribute to enhancing the city’s urban fabric and promoting sustainable urban design principles.

Join us this September 16th-18th by creating your own streetside parklet in any parking space across the City of Toronto. Whether you’re passionate about green spaces, community engagement, or creative expression, Park(ing) Day invites everyone to participate in shaping their city’s public spaces.

To get involved, visit www.parkingdaytoronto.ca. You can sign up for tips and information on how to plan and design your parklet, connect with other participants, and register your site on the Park(ing) Day map. Let’s collaborate to add more greenery, foster community connections, and celebrate creativity during Park(ing) Day Toronto 2024!
